How to Handle Picky Eaters?
Refusing Veggies
Why it’s bad
Vitamins A and C, as well as fiber, are found in vegetables. It is still vital to learn to love vegetables: Children who consume vegetables grow up to be adults who consume vegetables, and eating plenty of fruits and vegetables is linked to a better diet, a healthier body weight, and a lower risk of disease.
How to break the habit
1. Don’t be afraid of fat.
The body absorbs more vitamins when there is a bit of healthy and balanced fat added to the vegetables. Your child might eat broccoli more often if you add a teaspoon of butter, olive oil, or cheese to it. All of these add fewer than 50 calories and a couple of grams of fat.
2. Make it special.
Create an “appetizer tray” of veggies for your kids to nibble on while you’re preparing supper, along with some low-fat ranch dressing or hummus for dipping. “This takes some extra time, but it can make all the difference in the world,” says Dr. Trachtenberg.
3. Be cool.
You’re headed for some serious power struggles if you pressure or punish your children over food, even vegetables. Ensure that vegetables are on the table at all meals (select new ones alongside “safety” veggies they already know), eat some yourself, and delicately mention how fresh and tasty they are. You might have to wait weeks (or months) for your kid to ask to try them.
4. Try a dip.
You can make things easier for them by adding something they already like, such as ranch dressing or ketchup, to something they are reluctant to try, such as asparagus. Look for a brand that contains only genuine, simple ingredients without high fructose corn syrup.
Effects on picky eaters Children:
The following health problems and complications are more likely to develop in children who eat inadequately:
- Osteoporosis in later life.
- Cardiovascular diseases. In adulthood, eating foods high in fat, sugar, and salt increases the risk of high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and atherosclerosis.
- Obesity, physical inactivity, and a family history of type 2 diabetes are associated with type 2 diabetes in children.
- Overweight children have breathing problems, such as asthma.
Overweight can cause liver problems, problems with hip development (slipped capital femoral epiphysis) or leg bone growth, gallstones, early puberty, and polycystic ovary syndrome.

Are you having trouble getting your kids to eat enough quality protein? If you have picky eaters (adults or children), here’s a quick trick you can use!
100% Pure Liquid Egg Whites are Pasteurized and Filtered, making them entirely safe and delicious. Unlike other dairy products, they don’t have a taste or odor, making them ideal for use in drinks such as Ice Coffee, Smoothies, Juices, Shakes, and even for kids’ cereals. You can make a delicious protein drink by adding your favorite flavors – add chocolate and it tastes just like chocolate milk!
Liquid Egg Whites are best used in a drink without cooking, but they also make great omelets and can be used in any cooking recipe. The reason for this is that they are real egg whites and not egg white substitutes!
